Job Description:
Maternity Africa is seeking a part-time Information Technology Consultant to join our team. The successful candidate will collaborate with our Senior Management Team to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of our information technology systems. They will provide guidance, user training, and support for our technology and IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations. This role involves various responsibilities, including system documentation, analysis of IT requirements, system development and maintenance, IT user training, and ensuring compliance with healthcare industry regulations.
Key Tasks:
- Clarify and document Maternity Africa's system specifications, IT inventory, and work practices.
- Analyze IT requirements and provide independent advice on IT use.
- Define software, hardware, and network requirements.
- Develop and implement new systems.
- Design, test, install, and monitor new systems.
- Organize and deliver IT user training.
- Maintain and administer the hospital's Health Management System (HMS) and collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize it.
- Oversee the hospital's CCTV surveillance system, ensuring continuous monitoring and recording.
- Manage the hospital's phone network infrastructure, troubleshooting and resolving issues.
- Support networked printers and peripheral devices, ensuring proper functioning.
- Implement security measures to protect patient data and ensure compliance with healthcare industry regulations.
- Conduct regular IT security audits and maintain accurate records of system configurations.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related subject from a recognized institution/university.
- A minimum of three years of IT consulting or similar experience.
Other Qualities:
- Adherence to Maternity Africa's values.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Fluent in Kiswahili, English, and other local languages.
- Strong organizational skills with a logical approach to decision-making.
- Excellent work ethic, attention to detail, and self-starter mentality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Flexibility to take on additional IT-related roles as the organization grows.
