Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), established in 1969, is a government entity tasked with managing and developing oil and natural gas resources to boost Tanzania's economy and enhance citizens' welfare. TPDC oversees exploration, development of transportation and storage infrastructure, and management of contracts between governments and international energy companies.

The corporation has spearheaded impactful projects like the Mtwara-Dar es Salaam gas pipeline and the management of natural gas for electricity and industrial production. With investments in exploration projects across Lake Tanganyika, Lake Nyasa, and coastal regions of the Indian Ocean, TPDC is committed to making Tanzania the largest natural gas producer in Africa.
