We are looking for highly skilled experts with at least five years of experience in government functions and a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university.

About the role

In line with NI’s strategic objectives in Tanzania, and in partnership with key stakeholders, work under the guidance of the Senior Program Officer - Child Survival and Women’s Health and Nutrition, the Program Field Coordinator – Child Health and Nutrition will be responsible for the management and coordination of Vitamin A supplementation activities within program region. This will involve overseeing the implementation of national and regional health interventions aimed at reducing Vitamin A deficiency, improving child health, and ensuring program implementation fidelity, success and sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that yearly and quarterly work plans and related budget for effective implementation of program supported activities are developed by implementing partners for effective delivery of agreed outputs and outcomes.
  • Support the development and implementation of regional/council’s plans for routine Vitamin A supplementation based on national guidelines
  • Advocate for the integration of routine Vitamin A supplementation related activities into routine health services and broader health and nutrition plans.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure smooth operation planned program activities
  • Ensure that work plan activities are implemented as scheduled and per the approved budgets
  • Ensure routine Vitamin A supplementation activities are integrated into primary healthcare services, including immunization sessions and maternal and child health programs
  • Review and analyze technical reports from implementing partners and ensure that remedial actions are taken to ensure that the program milestones are on track
  • Ensure regular coordination meetings with key stakeholders to ensure quality and cost-effective implementation.
  • Raise awareness of Vitamin A deficiency and the benefits of supplementation within communities including strengthening community awareness of the importance of routine Vitamin A supplementation.
  • Collect and analyze program data to assess performance, compliance, reach and impact of the program as per program’s key performance indicators
  • Prepare periodic reports on program status, challenges, and successes for internal stakeholders and donors

About You;

You have;

  • At least a master’s degree from a recognized university in one or more of the following areas: nutrition, nursing, health sciences and public health Training in health commodities management and research methodologies is an added advantage.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in nutrition/public health programs, preferably with a focus on Vitamin A or micronutrient supplementation.
  • Excellent report writing
  • Demonstrable project management skills
  • Proficiency in data management
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, writing and oral presentation skills
  • Good spoken and written English

About the ICRC

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Your role

The networking field officer identifies, maintains, and broadens a network of local/regional stakeholders (Muslim academics, religious scholars etc) and facilitates the ICRC's access with the stakeholders.

The advisor takes the lead in building and maintaining a solid network of relevant interlocutors in country and beyond. They contribute to thorough monitoring, analysis, and reporting; creates and maintains up-to-date mappings of key contacts and databases for information sharing and knowledge management.

Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities

  • Contributes to the analysis and mapping of relevant stakeholders for a better understanding of the religious circles landscape in the region (i.e. East Africa);
  • Under the guidance of the Regional Networking Manager, reconstitutes the mapping of actors of influence in Tanzania and further consolidates it, with a focus on religious actors of influence and other community leaders;
  • Takes the lead in developing a networking plan of action for Tanzania in order to meet the networking and operational objectives in Tanzania, with support from the Regional Networking Manager and Head of Mission;
  • Assumes responsibility for organising workshops, round tables, seminars and courses for religious circles, and manages a small budget for organising such events;
  • Writes institutional reports, such as minutes of meeting, analysis and project proposals, and contributes to internal meetings and discussions;
  • Act as focal point in the Mission for briefing staff members, both local and international, on humanitarian affairs/networking;
  • Collects contextual, operational, and security-related information from various internal and external sources and contributes to the environment analysis, giving verbal and written briefings on context and security to the line manager and regional networking coordinator;
  • Contributes to security-related processes and documents, as directed by the head of mission.

What we will look for in your profile

  • University degree or comparable relevant professional experience;
  • Minimum 4-6 years professional work experience in a relevant field of activity;
  • Fluent in spoken and written Swahili and English. Proficiency in Arabic is a plus;
  • Proven ability to build and maintain a network of contacts;
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with and understanding of conservative Muslim audiences;
  • In-depth personal knowledge of the social, cultural and political assigned environment.
